A French Cajun Celebration:
The entire UMass Dartmouth community, faculty, staff, and students, are all invited to a French Cajun Celebration organized and hosted by Prof. Suzanne J. Pelletier of the Department of Foreign Literature and Languages, as well as Director of the UMass Dartmouth Foreign Language Lab. The event will take place on Friday evening, November 30, 2012 at the Century House, 107 South Main Street, Acushnet, MA 02743. Featured will be the 7-piece live Cajun band "Magnolia," who will play their award-winning and high-spirited traditional French Cajun music. It's music to surely lift your spirits and keep you moving. A Cajun/New Orleans family-style dinner will be served consisting of: Chicken Gumbo Soup; Shrimp Jambalaya; Cajun Roasted Chicken; Fried Fish Filets with Cajun Seafood Sauce; Fiesta Corn; Sweet Potato Fries; Dinner Rolls & Cornbread; Buche de Noel (a French Christmas Yule Log Cake); Coffee or Tea. The event begins at 6pm. to 11pm, with dinner being served at 7pm. Tickets are $30 for the general public, and $20 for students with an ID. Family, spouse, and friends are also invited to attend, and tables can be reserved for large groups or departments. Tickets are available from Suzanne Pelletier in the Foreign Language Lab, LARTS 207, 508-999-8333, or from Wendy Holmes, Foreign Language Department secretary in LARTS 350, 508-999-8332. Tickets must be purchased by Monday, November 26, and NO tickets will be sold at the door. The evening is being sponsored and made possible by the UMass Dartmouth Boivin Center for French Language and Culture.
