Description: In the early 1980s, the Guatemalan military launched brutal attacks against the indigenous Maya population, wiping out entire villages. This documentary combines the firsthand experiences of Nobel Peace Prize winner Rigoberta MenchĂș, a survivor of the genocide, and eyewitness footage shot by filmmakers Pamela Yates and Tom Siegel.

Discussion afterwards with Prof. Lisa Maya Knauer, who spent 2011 in Guatemala (and possibly members of the local Mayan community)

Sponsored by the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Crime and Justice Studies and the Center for Women, Gender and Sexuality
