Description: Researchers from across the nation will speak at UMass Dartmouth's Regional Bioengineering and Biotechnology Conference on Friday, February 9 and Saturday, February 10, 2007. The conference begins at 9 a.m. on Friday and concludes at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

The event, free to all members of the academic community and open to the public, will be held at Woodland Commons with parking available in lot 7. Online registration is required.

The goal of the conference is to bring bioengineering and biotechnology researchers from south of Boston together to exchange ideas and develop collaborations, according to Dr. Alex Fowler, associate professor of mechanical engineering and engineering director of the university's bioengineering and biotechnology program.

Speakers include:
Dr. David Kaplan, professor and chair of Tufts University's department of biomedical engineering and director of the Tissue Engineering Resource Center;
Dr. Mehmet Toner, professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School and director of the NHI BioMEMS Resource Center at Massachusetts General Hospital;
Dr. Buddy Ratner, professor of bioengineering at the University of Washington;
Dr. James Iatridis, associate professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Vermont;
Dr. James Marks, professor of anesthesia and pharmaceutical chemistry at the University of California San Francisco; and
Dr. Arthur Coury, vice president, biomaterials research at Genzyme Corporation.
