Black History Month 2010

It's Black History Month and UMass Dartmouth is ready to celebrate with events that range from cultural to historical. Events include speakers, films, read-ins, and much more! Black History Month gives people the opportunity to discover, learn, and celebrate African-American history and culture.

DARTMOUTH- It's Black History Month and UMass Dartmouth is ready to celebrate with events that range from cultural to historical. Events include speakers, films, read-ins, and much more! Black History Month gives people the opportunity to discover, learn, and celebrate African-American history and culture. All events are open to the public.  The following events have been scheduled:
February 8, 2-4 p.m., Frederick Douglass Unity House. Community Policing Forum Round Table Discussion.
February 9, 2.-3:30 p.m., Frederick Douglass Unity House. Motivational Speaker Steve Birdine. 7.-8:30pm, Auditorium.
February 11, 7 10 p.m., Frederick Douglass Unity House. Film: The Black List.
February 13, 1:45 p.m., Frederick Douglass Unity Film: Soul Food.
February 17, 2-4 p.m., Frederick Douglass Unity House. Film: Black in America.
February 18, 7-9 p.m., Star Store. The History of the NAACP, Sarah Garrett.
February 19, BHM-Gala/Ball Meal, keynote speaker. Call for more information.
February 22, 12 p.m., Frederick Douglass Unity House. Blessing of the Stage.
February 23, 7.-10 p.m., Frederick Douglass Unity House. Film: Crucibles of Courage.
February 24, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., LARTS-Artrium. African-American Read-In. 3:30-5:30pm, Frederick Douglass Unity House, School Children Read-In.
February 25, 6.-9 p.m., Frederick Douglass Unity House. Spoken Word Event. Black Arts Movement "Out Loud."
February 27, 6:45pm, Film: The Great Debators. Frederick Douglass Unity House.
