Pulitzer-Prize winning writer Debby Applegate will speak on Henry Ward Beecher: The Most Famous Man in America at UMass Dartmouth 285 Old Westport Rd. Dartmouth, Woodland Commons. Parking is in lot 7.  The event is on December 3 from 7 -- 9 p.m. Admission is free and sponsored by the Claire T. carney Library Associates.

Applegates book, Henry Ward Beecher: The Most Famous Man in America, is the product of  twenty years of research. It is a story of nineteenth-century America's religious transition from a Puritan and theocratic past to a 'modern' liberal orthodoxy premised on happiness, love, and the banishment of original sin.
