WHAT: Jack Welch, the legendary former CEO of General Electric, will speak at the Manufacturing Competitiveness Conference (MCC) hosted by the UMass Dartmouth Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Center (ATMC) in Fall River on November 16.
The Manufacturing Competitiveness Conference is designed to identify ways to strengthen the competitiveness of manufacturers in the region, to improve the marketing of available resources to companies moving into the region, and make the southeast region of Massachusetts the preferred location for manufacturing in New England.
The conference will be opened by Lt. Governor Kerry Healey, who will introduce Mr. Welch. Each attendee will receive a copy of Mr. Welch’s book Winning and Welch will be signing his book after his remarks. The Jack Welch portion of the conference has been designated as the first in a series of Chancellor Leadership Forums intended to draw leaders of national and international stature to UMass Dartmouth and the region.
During the conference there will be a variety of breakout sessions led by manufacturing support agencies and industry leaders. The conference will be concluded with a working-lunch panel discussion, moderated by Ranch C. Kimball, the Commonwealth's Executive Secretary for Economic Development.
MCC sponsors include the Executive Office for Economic Development, the Department of Business and Technology, the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, and the Governor’s Regional Competitiveness Council.
