UMass Dartmouth to host summer camp for young writers, grades 5-10

Young writers will have the option of attending both weeks of camp, or the first week only. The camp will meet each morning at Joseph Case Junior High School at 195 Main Street in Swansea before traveling to local landmarks.

FAIRHAVEN, MA--Buzzards Bay Writing Project at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth announces a two-week summer camp for aspiring young writers entering grades 5-10.
To be held July 6-9 and 13-16, from 9 am to noon, the camp will immerse young writers in challenging and inventive writing prompts. Young writers will experiment with poetry, prose and other creative genres, while seeking inspiration from visits to historical and picturesque SouthCoast landmarks.
Young writers will have the option of attending both weeks of camp, or the first week only. The camp will meet each morning at Joseph Case Junior High School at 195 Main Street in Swansea before traveling to local landmarks.
Instructors trained by the Buzzards Bay Writing Project at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth will guide the young writers, lead peer critiques and conversations, and advise young writers on opportunities for publication.
"This camp inspires budding writers, sharpens their skills, and equips them to become more confident and creative writers," says Buzzards Bay Writing Project director, Kathryn Dunlap. "It will challenge passionate young writers and jumpstart those who are new to creative writing."
