University and community colleges will develop curricula and identify gaps in training and research

UMass Dartmouth Dean of engineering Robert Peck, and campus and community sustainability director, Susan Jennings have received a grant for UMass Dartmouth from the President's Creative Economy Initiatives fund to support development of the green economy.
"Developing Green Jobs and Career Paths: The University of Massachusetts as a Leader in Growing the Green Economy" award of $45,000 will be shared by sustainability initiatives at UMass Dartmouth Lowell, and Boston. According to UMass President Jack Wilson, the award lies at the boundary of the "science and technology" and "creative economy" definitions and holds great promise for success.
The award will fund the continuation of articulation conversations between the UMass system and its community college partners. Such agreements allow for seamless transfer between institutions, and stimulate the development of curricula within institutions as gaps are identified in training and research. The award will also fund the development of a multi-disciplinary energy coach certificate, with courses in energy management.
