Date: September 12, 2012
Department: Chancellor's Office
Regional universities are defined by the magazine as providing a "full range of undergraduate majors and master's programs." UMass Dartmouth, which also offers nine doctorate programs and generates $26 million in annual research, is one of 16 public regional universities in New England. There are 625 public and private regional universities across the nation ranked by the magazine.
The College of Engineering is again listed among the "best in undergraduate engineering" by the magazine. The College is ranked 35th among 194 similar programs nationwide. US News includes UMass Dartmouth's program in a category reserved for institutions that offer bachelor's and master's degrees and having either small doctoral programs or no doctoral programs.
U.S. News & World Report's results come shortly after the University's 25th-nationwide ranking among master's degree-granting universities by Washington Monthly magazine.
UMass Dartmouth is also a top-1% ranking on the President's National Community Service Honor Roll and has earned a Carnegie designation as a Community Engagement University.
