The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth announced today a schedule of events for Black History Month, with special attention to this year's theme, At the Crossroads of Freedom and Equality, as well as the unique and rich history of African-Americans on the SouthCoast.

Beginning with the Share the Dream Banquet on February 2 in honor of College Now, to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Multicultural Celebration on February 9 and beyond, the events will include read-ins of African-American authors, lectures, panel discussions, banquets and an on-campus march for justice.

Many events are being held through the sponsorship of community partners, including the New Bedford Historical Society and Friends Meeting House of New Bedford.

Students, staff, faculty, alumni and members of the public are invited to attend all events.
