Several members from UMass Dartmouth's School for Marine Science and Technology (SMAST), College of Arts and Sciences, and College of Engineering will present on latest research and education initiatives at the OSM, which will be attended by other leading ocean scientists, engineers, students, educators, policy makers, and other stake holders. Among the UMass Dartmouth's presenters are SMAST Dean Steven E. Lohrenz and Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development Louis Goodman. SMAST will also have an exhibit booth in the exhibition area.
Sessions will include all aspects of oceanography, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary topics, as well as presentations that reflect new and emerging research on the global ocean and society, including science education, outreach, and public policy. The OSM originated in 1982 as a joint effort between AGU and ASLO, with TOS joining as a regular co-sponsor in 2004.
