Faculty & Students Organize Week Dedicated to Green Sustainability & Entrepreneurship, Senior VP for Corporate Responsibility of CVS to Visit Campus on 4/23

Dartmouth, MA (April 17, 2014) -- UMass Dartmouth faculty and students have organized a week dedicated to Green Sustainability and Entrepreneurship for Earth Week 2014, April 21-25, 2014. The week will feature student presentations on local projects related to sustainable business practices, a discussion of green innovation and sustainability by UMass Dartmouth alumnus Jacob Vaillancourt '12, Founder and CEO of Waste Hub, and a presentation on Corporate Decision Making by Eileen Boone, Senior Vice President of Corporate Responsibility for CVS Caremark Corporation.

UMass Dartmouth will also celebrate Green Innovation Day on campusWednesday, April 23, 2014.

Lecture by Jacob Vaillancourt '12, Founder and CEO of Waste Hub, a new online marketplace which enables it's users to more effectively manage, reduce, and eliminate the many costs of waste by providing a powerful web-based platform.

Green Entrepreneurship

Lecture by Jacob Vaillancourt and Samantha Trbovich, Organizational Efficiency Specialist for NORESCO, one of the largest energy services companies in the United States, which utilizes design-build and performance-based contracting vehicles to deliver energy and maintenance savings and infrastructure upgrades to existing facilities.


UMass Dartmouth Student Projects & Awards Presentations
5:30 - 6:45 pm
UMass Dartmouth Claire T. Carney Library, Room 206

Students will present results from sustainable projects and provide information on the sustainable and green initiatives that have been ongoing throughout the campus. Awards will be provided to a student, staff member and faculty member who have shown extraordinary efforts in sustainable practices.

Health & Profit - Corporate Decision Making

UMass Dartmouth Claire T. Carney Library Grand Reading Room

Presentation and discussion with Eileen Boone, Senior Vice President of Corporate Responsibility of CVS Caremark Corporation. The national retailer and healthcare company recently announced it will stop selling cigarettes and other tobacco products at its CVS/pharmacy stores by October 1.

Green Week at UMass Dartmouth is organized by the Charlton College of Business's Business Innovation Research Center, Net Impact, a student organization focused on sustainability and positive economic impact, and the University's Provost's Office.
