Date: May 24, 2006
For those who can't attend the ceremony, a live webcast will be available online, beginning between 10 and 10:15 a.m., as students and faculty form the procession.
The webcast will be viewable in two formats, Flash and QuickTime. Webcast links and steps to take in advance for viewing (to download software, if necessary) are at www.umassd.edu/commencement/webcast.cfm
The webcast will present the University Commencement, the main part of the ceremony which includes the commencement address and the conferring of honorary and doctoral degrees. (There will be no webcast of the five separate college exercises, beginning at approximately 11:45 a.m., during which undergraduate and masters' degree candidates will receive their diplomas.)
In addition to its radio broadcast, WSMU FM 91.1, the campus radio station, will also deliver a live audiocast of the proceedings beginning at 9:45 a.m. and continuing up until the conferral of degrees. The audiocast will be available online at www.wsmu.org/listen.html, using the QuickTime player or plugin.
In the event of inclement weather, graduating students and their families should check the university's home page for any updates: www.umassd.edu
The commencement web site at www.umassd.edu/commencement offers a wealth of information and details:
- schedule of events and the order of exercises

Profiles of some members of the Class of 2006 are featured at www.umassd.edu/students/spotlight
After commencement, the webcast will be available as an online streaming video; a slide show of memorable photos will also be posted to the site.
