The CVPA Campus Gallery at UMass Dartmouth continues its 2012-2013 exhibition season with Artisanry Department: Explorations. This group exhibition features recent work completed in sophomore and junior undergraduate classes in the College of Visual and Performing Arts’ Department of Artisanry. The exhibition, curated by students Kelsey Thornton and Sabra Viara, features work representing the Ceramics, Jewelry/Metals, Textile Design/Fiber, and Wood/Furniture Design studios.
The Artisanry department at UMass Dartmouth has earned a national reputation for excellence in craft education. Undergraduates in Artisanry may pursue BFA options in Ceramics, Jewelry/Metals and Textile Design/Fiber, with Wood/Furniture offered as an elective. Through a variety of academic and studio-based courses, students are provided with the tools necessary to gain expertise in their own field of study. Graduates of the program will possess an understanding of the principles of composition and design in connection with the possibilities of the materials and techniques of Artisanry. The Artisanry: Explorations exhibition allows students to share their personal perspectives on these possibilities with the UMass Dartmouth campus community.
The CVPA Campus Gallery is located on the first floor of the Visual and Performing Arts building at UMass Dartmouth, 285 Old Westport Road, North Dartmouth, MA 02747. Visitors are advised to use parking lot 7. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday 10 am - 4 pm, Friday 10 am - 3 pm.
