CIS announces new academic program, "Software Engineering Option," starting Spring 2009
Dr. Boleslaw Mikolajczak, on behalf of Computer & Information Science, announces a new academic program, the "Software Engineering Option," which will be offered in the spring 2009 semester as a part of the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree program.
The Software Engineering option brings new dynamics to the CS program and expands the opportunities available to those students interested in SWE. Software engineering is a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the development, operation, and maintenance of software. Drawing on computer science and mathematics as foundations, software engineering seeks to develop systematic models and reliable techniques for producing high-quality software.
The first course of this program, "CIS 264 Software Quality Assurance and Testing," will be held on MWF 9:00-9:50 am in Dion 101. Consecutive courses of the Software Engineering Option are scheduled to be offered in fall semester 2009 and later.
