TOPIC: “PERFORMANCE COMPARISON OF SCALABILITY TECHNIQUES FOR CLOUD COMPUTING SYSTEMS”
Cloud computing is becoming prevalent in our everyday life. Even though people do not realize, while watching a movie on Netflix or logging into an e-mail account, they are actually connected to the Cloud. One of the most important attributes of cloud computing systems design is scalability–-the ability to add or remove resources dynamically as per users’ demand, which can directly affect the users’ experience, and thus the success of the system. This project conducts an analytical performance comparison in terms of response time between two different scalability techniques: Dynamic Biasing Algorithm and Service Replication Technique using Queuing theory. The effects of arrival rate, service rate, and number of nodes on the system performance are also studied.
