CEN 452 Seminar: "Six Months Out and Still Going: The Transition from College to the Workforce”
Michelle Conway Project Engineer Ms. Conway is a project engineer with Consigli Construction, the contractor responsible for the UMD Library renovation. Originally from Rhode Island, she graduated UMD in May 2012 with a Bachelors in Civil Engineering and a Minor in Business Administration. She will describe her experience with the transition from college to landing a job providing some tips that she feels might be helpful to CEN students. She will talk about Consigli Construction and what a typical day consists of for an entry level civil engineer. Ms. Conway will also discuss some of the showcase projects they have worked on including a deeper look into the renovation of the UMASS Dartmouth Library.While attending UMD she played center field on the Softball team, was captain for two years and an Assistant Coach her last year there. She was also a Resident Assistant for 3 years working in Chestnut Hall and Dell South. Ms. Conway spent last year as a Senior Resident Assistant of Elmwood Hall. Before joining Consigli Construction in June she worked the past 5 years as a Union Laborer over summer and winter breaks working for heavy construction highway company, J.H. Lynch & Sons, Milford MA. She would especially love to see her friends from the softball team!
