Computer and Information Science to offer new Software Engineering Option beginning Fall 2007
On behalf of the Computer and Information Science Department, Chairperson Dr. Boleslaw Mikolajczak is pleased to announce a new academic option within the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Degree Program. The Software Engineering Option starts in Fall 2007 and is available to computer science majors. Computer Science majors are able to select either the mainstream Computer Science Program or the Software Engineering Option at the beginning of their sophomore year.
While the Software Engineering Option is based on the computer science curriculum, it offers in depth coverage of large software systems design; software quality assurance and software process and management. There are five new required courses: CIS 264 Software Quality Assurance and Testing, CIS 290 Software Architectures and Frameworks, CIS 365 Software Process and Process Management, CIS 390 Design of Large Software Systems, CIS 461 Formal Methods in Software Engineering and a selection of appropriate Technical Elective courses.
