Dr. Liudong Xing Presented IEEE Outstanding Technical Innovation Award

Dr. Liudong Xing, assistant professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was recognized by Region 1 of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), for her outstanding technical innovations in the field of Reliability Engineering. Her research interests are in the areas of Reliability Engineering, Wireless Sensor Networks and Fault Tolerant Computing. Dr. Xing is one of the most prolific researchers in the College of Engineering and her work has been supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF). In the past five years, she has published 10 journal papers in high quality refereed journals. She has also published 2 book chapters and 33 conference papers during this period. Dr. Xing has also served as the Editor for Short Communications of the International Journal of Performability Engineering. Dr. Xing received her PhD from the University of Virginia in 2002. She has been with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering since Fall 2002. Earlier this year, one of Dr. Xing's PhD students, Akhilesh Shrestha, was awarded second place in the IEEE Region 1 Graduate Student Technical Paper contest. Dr. Xing is also the faculty advisor to the student chapter of the IEEE at UMass Dartmouth. The IEEE is the world's largest technical professional society. It has over 365,000 members in 160 countries.
