College of Engineering Students Excel in IEEE Robotics Competition
College of Engineering students, Matthew Donoughe and Kevin Cormier of Computer and Information Science (CIS) and Julian Plante and Nick Savery of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), participated in the 2008 IEEE International Conference on Technologies for Practical Robot Applications (TePRA) Robotic Competition, under the guidance of CIS faculty adviser, Dr. Ramprasad Bala. The competition sponsored by iRobot was held in Woburn, MA on Nov 11, 2008. The CIS team finished second and the ECE team finished fourth in the double-elimination, head-to-head competition. They beat out teams from WPI and iRobot in their very first competition.
