Professor Suku Sengupta of the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department and his collaborator -- Prof. Sarina Ergas at the University of Massachusetts Amherst - have been awarded a $189,908 grant($90,142 for UMass Dartmouth) by the Cooperative Institute for Coastal and Estuarine Environmental Technology (CICEET). The 2-year grant will begin on October 1, 2006. The project title is, "Use of Sulfur-Oxidizing Denitrifying Bioretention Systems for Control of Nonpoint Sources of Nitrogen".
