UMass Dartmouth seeks support of Physics alumni and friends of the Hirshfeld-Dowd Observatory
UMass Dartmouth plans improvements to the Hirshfeld-Dowd Observatory to expand and enhance the facility, which has been used since 1992 by faculty, students, and the public to explore the night sky. The proposed upgrades include a new wing to house an additional pair of telescopes and increase visitor capacity, professional-grade aluminum dome, high-resolution astronomical camera, and a walkway for improved public access. In total, UMass Dartmouth hopes to raise a total of $100,000 in support of the proposed renovations. To make a donation please visit the UMass Dartmouth Foundation Office.
