Professor Khanna awarded new NSF GOALI grant
The new grant is titled "GOALI: An Exploration of the Use of OpenCL for Numerical Modeling and Data Analysis" and has a total budget of $166,499 for a period of 2 years. The grant, which is in collaboration with industry partners Nvidia and Apple, has been funded by NSF's Grant Opportunities for Academic Liaison with Industry (GOALI) program. The main goal of the proposed research is to investigate the benefits of the newly developed Open Computing Language (OpenCL) for scientific computation in the area of gravitational physics. OpenCL is a new programming framework that enables computation across a wide variety of compute platforms, such as multi-core CPUs, GPUs and the Cell Broadband Engine.
