Drs. Chalivendra and Kim receive MassCEC, MTTC award for clean energy projects
Associate Professor Vijaya Chalivendra in the mechanical engineering department and Chancellor Professor Yong Kim in the bioengineering department have received a grant from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC), Massachusetts Technology Transfer Center (MTTC) for a project entitled "Greener High Strength, Lightweight and Low Cost Structural Composites using Sustainable Natural Fibers". The Catalyst Program grants of $40,000 are meant to support early stage technology companies and research institutions intending to commercialize clean energy technology projects. The researchers will use the funding to fabricate and characterize natural jute fiber reinforced composites for potential use in building structural materials and automotive components.
