Graduate students, Justin McKennon (ECE) and Gary Forrester (Physics) with Prof. Khanna have published a paper at the XSEDE 2012 HPC conference. This is the first conference of the National Science Foundation's Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment, which is focussed on the effective usage of large-scale, federal supercomputers for important scientific applications. Their paper is titled: "High Accuracy Gravitational Waveforms from Black Hole Binary Inspirals Using OpenCL" and presents the detailed methodology and the final scaling performance obtained, in the context of high-performance parallel computing on multi-core CPUs and many-core GPUs, for an important application in the area of gravitational physics. The research presented in this paper was supported by the National Science Foundation and the Massachusetts Space Grant Consortium.
