Shelley Zhang and Other Researchers Awarded Contract to Develop the Generalized Integrated Learning Architecture(GILA).

Assistant Professor Shelley Zhang of the Computer and Information Science Department and other researchers from 11 universities and institutes, united by Lockheed Martin Advanced Technology Laboratories, (ATL), won a $22 million, 48-month contract ($290K for UMass Dartmouth) from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to develop the Generalized Integrated Learning Architecture (GILA).GILA will help U.S. Air Force planners leverage the skills of expert operators to better control air space over the battlefield and to transfer expert knowledge to inexperienced personnel.
