Dr. Theophano Mitsa Honored by New York State
Dr. Theophano Mitsa of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and her advisor Dean Kevin Parker from the University of Rochester were recognized by New York State's Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities in their list of 50 years of achievements by universities in New York state.
Drs. Parker and Mitsa invented the Blue Noise Mask which makes it possible to deliver high quality halftone images such as ultrasound images rapidly to users. More than a dozen companies have licensed this invention.
Dr. Mitsa has been with UMass Dartmouth since September 2003. She continues to work on research related to image and information processing.
