Physics students prototype fluids experiments at MIT

Physics majors David Beesley and Jason Olejarz accompanied Professor Amit Tandon to Professor John Marshall's laboratory at MIT on July 16-17. They joined other students, Seth Clevenstine from Millersville University, Priyam Patel and Rick Nelson from NYU and Liam Fedus from MIT, for an intense 2-day session to finalize the design of several experiments on the rotating table.

David and Jason are the lead students working with Professor Tandon on two experiments: one concerning Ekman layers and the second on Wind Driven Ocean Circulation. There are six other experiments being worked on this summer by the overall team. Working alongside other students, David and Jason successfully prototyped these experiments and over the remainder of the summer will fine tune them, help assemble the required apparatus and write up supporting material for eventual inclusion at the NSF project web site
