List of Tenured Faculty Names
When you are done...
Attention all faculty at the University of Massachsetts Dartmouth: We wanted to take this opportunity to provide you with the latest components of the Faculty Leadership Walkway. Those components include: Quotes to be placed along the Walkway; the Visual Representation of the Walkway, including the sculpture / centerpiece in the seating area next to the Library; and the names of past Tenured Faculty as well as previous faculty award recipients to be certain that we have the most accurate and complete list of names.
Please take a few moments to review the progress made by the Faculty Leadership Walkway team regarding "Quotes," "List of Tenured Faculty," "List of Faculty Awards and Award Recipients," and "Walkway Imagery."
Please submit your comments (at the bottom of this page) no later than May 15, 2007. Thank you.
Feel free to contact any of the Faculty Leadership Walkway team members to ask questions or provide your input.
Three or four quotes from a list of more than 100 were chosen by the Faculty Leadership Walkway team as good examples of quotations to be highlighted along the Walkway.
Here are the initial three quotes: (1) A mind is a fire to be kindled, not a vessel to be filled, Plutarch; (2) It is what we think we know already that often prevents us from learning, Claude Bernard; and (3) Teaching is the highest form of understanding, Aristotle. A fourth quote receiving honorable mention was: Obstacles are what you see when you take your eye off your goals, Sufi saying.
Please cast your votes for these quotes as well as take the opportunity to provide additional quotes, and authors, in the Other Comment section below.

Each year at the Annual Banquet, the Faculty Federation presents this award to a UMass Dartmouth teacher. Established in 1971, the "Teacher of the Year" Award is a memorial to the late Leo M. Sullivan, founder of and former professor and chairman of the Department of Psychology. It recognizes a colleague who has demonstrated a particular dedication to students through exceptionally meritorious teaching and advising.
The President's Public Service Awards were established in 1998 by the University of Massachusetts as a means of recognizing the public service contributions of UMass faculty members.
The Faculty Federation presents this award to a UMass Dartmouth scholar. The award recognizes a substantive body of work as well as exemplary scholarly/artistic achievement by an individual in his/her own discipline. The awardee must be of international or national repute. The primary basis for selection is an intellectual and/or artistic contribution to some field of inquiry within the last four years.
Graduating senior students recognize an outstanding faculty member each year.
