Graduate Assistantship: Housing and Residential Education - Office of Residential Community Standar

Description: Summary of Position: The Graduate Assistant for the Office of Residential Standards must be enrolled at the University of Massachusetts in an approved graduate program. The position requires 20 hours per week in the Housing and Residential Education/ Live Well Office on the 2nd floor of Oak Glen Hall and may include night and weekend hours. The position reports to the Coordinator of Residential Community Standards. Job Description: • Serve as Pre-Hearing Facilitator for student conduct cases • Serve as procedural advisor during Conduct Board Hearings • Coordinate and assess alcohol and drug seminars for students found responsible for violations • Assist with statistical reporting and analysis • Assist with the development of community standard programming. • Coordinate pre-hearing scheduling for Coordinator of Residential Community Standards. • Process cases submitted by UMass Dartmouth Community and Staff. • Assist with training of staff on conduct procedures and online system, Symplicity. • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Desired Qualifications: • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal • Excellent organizational skills • Strong computer skills • Previous experience with statistics • Previous experience in student conduct processes and/or residence life desired • Working knowledge of student development theory desired Employment Terms: • $10 per hour paid in biweekly paycheck • No tuition reimbursement or room and board given • Dates of Employment: August 24, 2014 through May 17th, 2015 (includes 1 week on campus training and preparation prior to each semester) • Early Arrival Housing, if applicable • Confidentiality agreement required Applications (cover letter, resume, and names of three references) to: Johanna Hobin Coordinator of Residential Community Standards Oak Glen 2nd Floor/HRE and Live Well Suite UMass Dartmouth 285 Old Westport Rd.
