Acer platanoides 'Crimson King'
Purple/red leaf maple
Family: Aceraceae

A dense, rounded form with deep purple foliage all summer. Grows to 40' in height with a spread of 35'. Although it is the most commonly used of the purple-leaved Norways, it is effective when placed properly. It has small yellow flowers in spring and it's deep purple leaves turn maroon to reddish-bronze in fall. Hardiness zones 4. Specimens are located at the Quad between Group VI and the Foster Administration Building.
