Magnolia 'Elizabeth'
Yellow magnolia
Family: Magnoliaceae

This is a rounded or conical shaped tree that can grow up to 30' tall with a spread of about 20'. It has yellow flowers with petals that are 6". The leaves are coarse and oval. The buds are large and fuzzy. Branching is dense when young, later opening, or may be lightly pruned to open. It is grown for its large yellow flowers as a shrubby specimen tree or in mixed plantings. It is northern range limit on campus. There are several of these specimens in the lawn behind both the entrance and exit gardens. In areas 1a, and 1b. The hardy zones are 6-9.
