Magnolia grandiflora 'Little Gem'
Little Gem southern magnolia
Family: Magnoliaceae

'Little Gem' is a diminutive southern magnolia that grows to 20' tall and 10' wide. It has broad evergreen leaves that have a glossy and waxy upper surface. It's native to Southeastern United States. At its northern limit here in zone 6, it is best grown in areas protected from cold Northeastward winds. Large creamy white flowers are born among the evergreen leaves in July´┐ŻAugust. Hardy in zones 7(6) and southward. Located at southeast corner of Administration Garden.
