My Grandfather was from Cape Verde and I wanted to find out more about
him and his country. Unfortunately, I had sent for some information
several years ago to no avail. I corresponded regularly with the
the Cape Verde Consulate attempting to get my grandfather's birth
records. I requested his information, sent the appropriate fee and
called often for over 5 years awaiting for a response. I was
guaranteed a response, but received none. If there is any way I
could get this information or put in contact with someone who
could, both me and my grandfather's 100+ descendents would be
extremely grateful.

Interesting site. My grandmother was born in Braga, Portugal, lived in Brava as a child, married her husband ( from the Azores ) and moved to Boston at the turn of the century. It is always interesting to see where your family is from.

Finally our "true" language is going to be unified and given a long
due respect it deserves. That is something trully ours, one of the
very few things that unifies us all as a people. I hope the project
does work and becomes sucessful in the long run. However, we must
expect those who have fallen in love with portuguese(not that I'm
against the language) to oppose any plans we have to work towards the
development of criolu.
It has been long overdue.

Boa Pas,Peace be unto you,As-Salaam-Alaikum. Bon Saude,Bon Furtuna e Morabeza pa tudu Cabo Verdeano.
I would like at this time to wish all of the people who are of Caboverdean ancestry in Cabo Verde or any place on this mother earth, good health and a good life by the Grace of Deus.
I was born in New Bedford,my father was from the Island DjaFogo,my mother was born in Wareham but my granparents on both side came to this country perhaps 115 years ago. Mateus or better known in the
USA as Matthews. My granfather was called called Nho Manne Fakin-u meanin( Manny little Knife) He was married to Nha Julia Barboza Gomes(Matthews also from Dja Fogo that is my father side.
My mother side is from the Island of Dja Brava. My mother was Anna Rose married to Charlie Barboza Matthews(Macelino B.Mateus) They lived in Wareham.Until he went to the world war II.
My granmother from Dja Brava her name is Caroline Rainey a Beautiful women with red hair and green eyes married to Aurelio Rose
( Rosa) also from Dja Brava. My granfather was called Harry Rose
they lived in Marion. Cranberry pickers, farmers and gardners.
I was born Milton Charles Matthews raised between the twin towns Wareham and Marion mostly by my granparents from DjaBrava. My first language is my mother tongue Criolu. Thanks to my granparents, may their souls rest in peace at the Wareham cemetery.
I went to the little red school house in Wareham( Everret School) two rooms. The part of Wareham I lived in was called snell town.
In those days we were vey poor but we as children did not understand poverty we were well fed we had food from our farming and our live stock;goats, pigs, chicken and cows. In the town of Marion I lived at 115 point Rd. In those days we were rich in culture, music my granfather Nho Lin as he was called was a great violinist. The food of Jag;manchupa, canja and mandeyoka were flavors you could smell in the air, baked pies and home made cake.
We ate jag for every meal, morning noon and night.
I went to Pilgrim Memorial school then to the point Road school in Marion then to Sippican school in Marion then to Boston to live at the age of 12. First let me finnish about growing up as a Caboverdean child it was almost the same for all of us back in 1930's and the 40's.
All of the children at that time only spoke creolu and of course we were being taught to speak english at school, but our granparents only spoke our mother tongue.
Up early in the morning before the sun rise feeding the live stock and weeding the farm it was a very hard chore. While our granmother made food to take to the cranberry bog, some had sandwich some took panella ( pot) of jag and fried chicken & dry fish. The trucks would come to pick us up maybe around 7am whole families at a time would be crowded into the trucks and off to the boggs. We had already done a days work from 4 to 7am. Now to the boggs, hot, muggy and tthere we would be working for Makepeace,Beaton or Lake Handy. The women would wear dresses over ther coveralls to protect their knees from the harsh vines because you would have to get on your knees to pick the berries with a scoop. Bring me a box you could hear them shout to the children who were not strong enough or big enough to handle a scoop but many time some who were 9years old who were big were along side their parents picking.
It was a difficult hardship from 8am until 5pm then home to wash clothes feed the animals do the farming cooking the food and all the other work that needed to be done before going to bed which for the adult might not be until 11 some time later. The same routine the next day. Some children were kept out of school during Cranberry, strawberry season. The parents had to sew the whole in the clothes and put news paper or cut up brown bags to cover the hole in the shoes or sneakers. There is much more to the story.
Some time the boggs were a great distance from our homes so we would live in a shanty 15 or more crowded on the floor; you got that right outhouse served the needs of the people.
This is just the tip of the ice berger there are so many stories to be told by so many other families. I just try to give you young people a brief
look into a small part of our past here in the USA..
Next I will tell you about the chages I went thru when I had to leave my Caboverdean village to go too Boston to live for the first time at 12. And the story will unfold to how I became a Negro then went into the US Army in 1950 to Korea in 51 out of the Army in 53. And how I became a member of the Nation Of Islam (Black Muslim movement).
If this story is boring to you let me know and I will not attempt to give you the next chapter in the saga of Milton Charles (Peter) Matthews

Hey Folks,
I hope everyone is enjoying the summer. I have gotten behind on a number of things - email, some announcements, ... Please forgive me. I hope to get to all this asap. Though if I disappear for two weeks, do't be surprised. The goal is to on top of everything by September, and to introduce a better front page and index. We do hope some of the academics out there will join with us and/or move out on their own with the start of the new school year, with some CV cyberspace initiatives. There is no reason we should not be seeing more classrooms as well as individual students online. Put project teams together. Everybody does not need to be a computer whiz. Some kids can produce pictures. or take photos. Or write. There's a place for everybody on web projects. I've heard from a few teachers out there who express excitement and enthusiasm about projects involving the web. Let's get ready to roll in September, and launch a full-scale CV eduactional/exploratory/experimental offensive in cyberspace. Remember, this home page is just one part of CV cyberspace.
Also, we hear a lot about Amilcar Cabral, but NONE of his writings, speeches, etc. are available online. I think if a student or students were to start doing this, it would be a great contribution. You'd have to research copyright laws. You'd have to make sure all transcriptions were error-free. You might find it is a lot of work. But people would be able to read Cabral in his own words, to be exposed to the ideas of this great man, to be able to analyze, discuss, and critique his ideas.

Many are reading what I write but totally miss the content as well as
objective. Others ask me what my purpose is/are regarding my comments.
Why do people say the things they do???? I don't really have a answer
for that one just yet. I don't write hoping to touch someone's heart
to the point which they will change the course of their lives...no, that
is not my objective. I also don't take my time to write, hoping the world
will recognize my hidden talents, or even to seek approval of some.
I don't claim to be wise since many times wisdom comes with age(and since
I'm relatively young, I need to learn many great things for those older than
I). This is not a talent show, I'm not out here posting my resume hoping
that someone will give me a call for employment. In the process of writing
many things, I've gotten great support from many individuals of all age
groups along with the disaproval of others who think that I just don't have
anything good to say. Just the other day, I received an very supportive
e-mail from a 65 year old Capeverdean American who fought alongside Amilcar Cabral and others for the
independence of our nation. That sort of support from true heroes of our islands
is/are all I need at the end of the day, for me to understand the ways of fighting
a war, the ways I need to help my people, and the changes I need to make in my life
in order to help others in need. I'm hungry for knowledge, and thus I seek
it/them from many of diverse background. A few are just intimidated (I guess) with the subject
matter which I chose talk about(race). They feel as tough silence will be the best
medecine to cure this terrible problem which will call racism. Some regard my
ideas as that of a racist, but that does not bother me at all. What I write
is not about me simply because I'm sure of where I stand, I have deep political
convictions which very few can make me change(I say that just because I keep an
open mind, and understand that ideas do change and that the only thing constat
in life is change). I love to learn from new ideas, read about different phylosophis
(from the West, East, and many corners of the globe). As mankind, we all have
things and different ways of contributing for the development (sane and propper)
of humanity. I don't take my ideas as "standard marshall law" for the human race
to follow, and most important of all, I don't let anyone force their ideas upon me
since I have a mind of my own.
Altough I take great pride in what I've learned, knowledge is nothing without the
activism needed to help my people. As they say on "Teen Summit, If knowledge is the
key, then show me the lock".
p.s. Take it easy on the advice my people. Some of you are just playing the "guru"
type. We can all offer guidance if we choose to do so, but only a few are worthy
of such honor.

Thanks for creating a commendable and inspiring site providing
both range and depth of educational experience with diverse,
multi-dimensional adventures--I particularly enjoyed the fusion
of political movement with geneological "roots"--and the variety of
ethnomusicology and folkways--as the spirit of revolution was
once sustained in clubs and associations, so too can the cv home

Hello Caboverdeanos!!
I'm writing in order to address the questions of R. Gomes. The questions she poses are of great consern to many of us, who care a great deal about our country and our continent. For one thing, many Cape Verdeans spend a lot of time telling us all about their Portuguese connections, and less time expressing the love they should have for the continent of Africa; also, the love they should have for African people all over the world. I never for ounce denied the fact that we have been (********* text deleted ******** - Ed.). However, lets speak the truth for a second, the main reason some Cape Verdeans don't like to express their African roots is that, they were mislead by all the lies told by Europeans. The Portuguese gave some Cape Verdeans the power of assimilation. That is, the power to maniputed and abuse our African brothers/sisters in Guinea Bissau, Mozanbique, Angola, and St, Tome. Also, they told us that "GREAT LIE" that we are superior to other Africans. Many Cape verdeans still believe in this lie. For this reason, you still have a lot of Cape Verdeans talking down to African-Americans and anyone of darker complection.
P.S. Don't take my comments the wrong way, I am just writing down some facts in other to help out Mrs/Miss Gomes with her question. R. Gomes I hope you don't take my word for it, just go to your local library and look at the information for yourself.
Viva Cabo Verde
Viva Africa , and please think about our Brothers in Guinea, Congo, Ruanda, Angola; who are fighting and killing one another in other to serve the White man's economic interests.

I work for a law office that deals with Immigration. I have helped many people of different culture in getting their immigrant visa. I see how people from the same culture help each other and encourage one another. Keep one another strong.
It is great to read all of your commits. To see how our fellow brothers and sisters have moved around the world. I use to think that we Cape Verdians only lived in the East coast of America, CV, Africa(Angola) and Portugal.
I was born in CV and my family moved to America back in the 80's. I can speak Creole. But I can't read it that well.
I hope that we CVs can keep our culture ALIVE! We need to remember how important it is to support our family members - especially the elderly.
Love and be humble - May you all have a blessed day.

We abhor political correctness. We love lively debate and discussion. However, we encourage all to observe what is termed "netiquette." We do not want discussions degenerating into flame-wars. Be passionate, poetic, nonlinear, whatever. But try to keep things conceptual, not personal.
Until we implement a chat room and discussion forums on this site, all we have is our visitors book. While not intended as a discussion forum, until such time as we can implement such, we by no means discourage use of the visitors log for this purpose. However, please exercise appropriate restraint.
We recommend the following online articles:
The Net: User Guidelines and Netiquette - Arlene H. Rinaldi
Howard Rheingold's Review of Netiquette.
Cooling the Flame Wars
Rules for Flame Wars
"Netiquette is not just about niceties of behavior or avoiding embarassment. Netiquette is like the double yellow line in the middle of a highway. It's a social agreement that enables a large number of people to have access to the attention of a large number of other people with minimum damage."

Hello to the all the Cape verdian blood brothers and sisters out there .... Thank you Brother Raheim, I read your letter to me dated 7/21/98, we stand united as to express our selves in Crioullo. It is not right that you were kicked out of the chat room for expressing yourself in Crioullo. You must keep the FAITH and not let the ignorance of those who wish to keep us under the control of slave mentality rule our hearts or minds. (I myself just recently had to stand my ground and be reminded of this) Remember "By perseverance the snail reached the Ark " Let no one take our dreams from us.. Keep the FAITh my brother and stand strong in your beliefs and know that others stand united with you in this struggle.. ( Courage is contagious )

said that a lot of us are based in Brasil, I believe that an even bigger
number of us reside in the USA, which explains for the fact that many cannot
write in portuguese. When I wrote those comments, I was responding to a portuguese
individual who came on this page to tell us all to write in portuguese.
As far as the portugalnet incident, my experience there was far different from
yours. Just because you didn't get kicked off, it doesn't mean it didn't occur to
to some of us. Again, understand that I wrote my comments to let the world know that
some of us do have something we can call our "own" and that we are willing to fight
for what is TRULLY ours. No man can tell me to ignore my culture and follow something
else. As a final point, I don't know if you're english skills are perfect but please
be careful when you read anything I write since my ideas tend to cover a broad spectrum
of things. I don't mind constructive criticism such as in the case of brother Guy Ramos
I fully understand what he is trying to tell me, not that he is right.
I support anyone knowing multiple languages, and I never told CaboVerdianus not to speak
portuguese. Maybe you are older than me, and you don't feel this REVOLUTIONARY BLOOD OF
Amilcar Cabral running in your vains, but my generation is going to stand up for that kind
of oppression. We are not going to be FORCED to speak anything. Like someone once said,
GIVE ME FREEDOM OR GIVE ME DEATH.
Read carefully what I write Mr. Do Chen. If you support anyone coming down on your people,
attempting to lead our destiny, brother/sister you're in for a battle. My children will
learn all languages of the world because it does one no harm to have knowledge of things.
In fact that's what we are all about: I have french blood in me, while some of my cousins
have Italian blood. I don't hate whites even tough you might think that. Some of us can't
separate pride with hate, but I sure can. I'm proud to be a african man, but I know how
to get along with all from the planet Earth. You are going to respect me as I respect you.
I don't think that I'm better than anyone, in fact I'm eager and willing to learn from everyone.
Once I heard someone say this: "If you don't have something to live for, you better find
something to die for". Not that it applies much to the context of this comment, but it is just
to tell and show you to what extent I'm willing to fight for what's right.
I'f you take away a man's ability to think and analize things, what has he left to do on earth???
Intellectual oppression is something I won't support.
As far as me writing in English: I live in the USA, and that's the official language here.
If you want to be proud of something, go back home for a while and help poor children there, instead
of occupying your time with my comments. If you all who think I talk nonsense wish, we can meet
somewhere and talk about things which are bothering your mind.
How dare you tell me or my brothers and sistas to write in any particular language????
Portuguese is only the official language of our country, and only because we allow it to be such.
Also, don't try to test my skill in crioulu just because you saw a couple of things I wrote in
English. I can blow in many different ways. Don't let my nickname Raheim throw you off guard, because
that's all that it is, a nickname. I was born and raised in CaboVerde, came to the US when I was 16.
I know what I'm talking about. If you think I'm making this stuff up, you're wrong.
I guess you're one of those who needs to learn about your real roots.
p.s. I wish some individuals would stop recycling comments which they write on the portugalnet page,
just to attrack some support here. You all need to read some nonsense which is written on the
portugal net. But please, if you don't like something any of us wrote, don't go on talking about our
mothers because they have nothing to do with this. Leave ignorance behind.
With love, your brother Raheim

TO Raheim, and all those who seem to have a problem with the writing
in Portuguese. I'm sorry to say that I don't agree with your comments.
I mean why are you creating more problems by stating that you don't
like the comments that some people make about writing in Portuguese.
Come on men, grow up. After all isn't it the language used in Cape Verde
when students communicate with their teachers. Is it not the official
language of Cape Verde. Do you understand what you say. No one is
saying that this page should be written entirely in Portuguese, all their
saying is that they want to see a few other things in Portuguese. Besides
don't you think you contradict yourself when you rather write in English.
I mean if you don't want to write in Portuguese, then why would you want
to write in English. Look I'm not trying to take no sides, if you're
thinking that, but if you notice the people requesting more things in
Portuguese are either based in Brazil, or Portugal. You should understand
that before you go on and start all this ignorant stuff.
In addition, what do you mean you was kicked off portugal.net. I've been
there before, and I speak Portuguese or English, and never got kicked
out, you must of done something offensive for that to have happened. And
that is the case with most chat rooms, maybe you should read their
policies on ignorance before you go in. I hope you think before you
begin to write, because right now all your doing is taking us right
back to the colonial days.
PS Since you think that you can write in crioulo, then what are you
waiting for? I hope you have written a grammar book in crioulo, because
as you should know. Krioulo ka tem grammática. Kriolu ka tem
grammática. Crioulo ca tem grammática. Now, Mr. you want to wirte in
crioulo, which way is the right way.

To sister Mary Pinto:
I am glad you were able to enjoy my comments and understand what some of my concerns are. You are envited to log on PORTUGAL NET-Ponto de econtro, Cabo Verde and read some more about what so many of us think. There are lot of us who are trying to stimulate intellectual debates while creating something of a vision for a better future. I also see a need for a chat room where capeverdean like myself would be free to exchange ideas without the preassures of sensorship. Portugal Net has a chat room, but just the other day I was kicked off because I refused to write in Portuguese. I was writing in Criolu and English, enjoying a conversation with some people when one of the administrators told me to either write in Portuguese or find another chat room. Such arogance from the part of those Portuguese really enfuriate me. Lets get a chat room and keep the ideas roling.
May peace be with you, sister Mary

Hello, my name is Alice Fortes and i live in Rotterdam, Holland. I am very pleased to read al those comments of Cape Verdians all over the world. What suprises me is that al lot of comments are from the USA, does this mean that american capeverdians use more internet than capeverdians in other countries....? I don't know.
I'm also pleased to see thal a few dutch capeverdians also use internet en logged into this Visiitors log.
I like to read all those comments of you there alle over the world. It's nice that i've read some comments of 'non-capeverdians' who are curious about Cape Verde.
Well, for all you in the universum, do you know something about Capeverdians in the Netherlands? No, well we're known as the silent emigrants and most of us live in Rotterdam. Because a lot of the Capeverdians came here as a sailor.
We have a few radiostations and 1hour of tv every sunday. We have a soccercompetion between a lot of clubs (almost every Island has his one soccerclub with the name of the Island, and than there are a lot more). Every saturday there are a lot of parties in Rotterdam, dj or with a band.
And nowadays we're trying not to be the silent one's, we want to be heard, so nowadays we have some 'celebrities' in the dutch community who are capeverdians, for example:
* each year we have International Carnaval in Rotterdam, and this year the Queen is a Caperverdian (we have had al lot of Carnavalsqueens)
* we have also soccerplayers in the Dutch Soccer Competion (not much, but it is growing)
* in June of this year in the Park by Euromast, we had a Capeverdian Night, and especially from Portugal came BANA ande TITO PARIS. It was raining that day, but the Park was crowded with Capeverdians and none Capeverdians (dutch people and other foreigners)
*in Rotterdam we have a lot of bands and artists who are famous all over the World like LIVITY (split up), GIL, MARIZIA, SPLASH, BETO DIAS, MOBASS, etc. etc.
I think it's nice to learn about other Capeverdian Communities, so i'm inviting you to write stuff about your country here in the Log.
Ofcourse greetings to everybody, but especially for some of the Rotterdammers who also have written something in the Log:
Guy Ramos, Elsa, Delgado, Victor, Agustinho Santos.

Greetings again to all of you out there. It was a joy again for me to visit this web page and see the many opinions and comments from so many interesting people. I enjoyed reading a Capeverdian brother's comments dated 7/17/98 AKA Raheim. I agree with his comments about Criollu being the langauage of Cabo Verde and we should be proud of that language. I also agree with his comments regarding Amilar Cabral fighting for the independence of Cabo Verde. We should be proud of our culture and the freedom fighters who fought to make us proud. He is also right on his observation that many Cape verdians are here in the US and have never learned to speak Portugese. (We are still to be proud of our language Criollu) Great comments Raheim !!!!! When we walk in faith we are not afraid to express ourselves !!!!

As a Cape-Verdean born and raised in the United States, I am always
trying to learn more about this beautiful culture. This site has been
very informative and helpful. Both my parents emigrated from Brava in
the late 70's and have never been back. I had the opportunity to
visit the islands last year and fell in love with it. I hope to be
going back someday very soon!

My great grandmother, Charlotte Emmaline DaSilva(b. 1864) was the
daughter of Cape Verdeans, Michael(b. 1813) and Paulina
DaSilva(b. 1820). We believe that they lived on the Island of
Sao Nicolau or Bao Vista. This research is very interesting to
me. I was so excited when I found this web page!

I wish some folks would understand that our culture was born and conceived
due to mixture of individuals, cultures, languages, etc(the African as well
as the European). Because of this, it is hard and often impossible to
claim that we are "pure" Africans or "pure" Europeans for that matter.
I can't fully understand how some portuguese "individuals" would logon
this page to tell us what to do, or even force us to speak (or write)in
portuguese. A great number of Cape verdeans who access this page are residing
in the US, and many are CapeVerdean-Americans who don't know the portuguese
language. I tought that the principal purpose of this page was to inform ALL
who want to learn and share information about our beautiful culture (Caboverdiana).
We should ALL have the freedom to write in whatever dialect we choose as long as
what is written is done in a tasteful manner. How arogant can you be to TELL me
what to do. Last time I checked, we were a independent nation; I tought that
Amilcar Cabral and all those who fought and died in the war for independence gave
us the freedom to speak our minds and a land we can call ours. CaboVerde is for
us all, our culture is rich and beautiful simply because it has different elements
in it. Purity is not our main concern. Morna, funana, coladera, mazurca, etc represent
this mixture in our existence, they give us an individuality trully unique, which
makes us in fact CAPEVERDEANS. You are all welcome to this "OUR" page, but please
don't you (you know who you are)dare tell me or any of my brothers and sisters
how to express themselves.
P.S. Portuguese is not our language. It is the official language of our islands.
Criolu is something trully ours. Be proud of what we have. There is nothing
wrong with knowing both languages(since the portuguese culture will always be a
part of all of us wether we like it or not. You can't erase 400 + years in a matter
of decades).

Greetings,
We are curious as to the status of the 5 to 20 gigabit-per-second
broadband Atlantis-2 network planned to link Argentina, Brazil, Senegal, the
Cape Verde Islands, the Canary Islands and Portugal by June 1999. (Follow
URL above for an article on this from Communications Week International.) If
this is true, will that mean that Cabe Verde will get a nice little high-speed
on-ramp to this fat data pipe? Seems that if Cabo Verde is to be a key relay
point in this network, it would be no big problem for the consortium to give Cape
Verde 1st class access to the info highway. What are the
technical/economic/political/legal issues here? Is this network a reality? It looks
like the much-hyped AT&T Africa One Network never made it past the planning
and PR stages. The only thing we can find on the web on this are some old news
releases (http://www.att.com/press/1295/951220.cia.html).
Could someone provide any information on the matter of this new Atlantis-2 network
or any aspect thereof?
Obrigadu,
Development Team

Because of some rude comments written in the past, I find myself feeling sorry for my actions. I made direct attacks at the administrators and this page. It was more or less out of frustration than anything else which lead me to a level of ignorance. Today I am able to see the true value this page has on so many people across the world, something I should be thankful for. Just because I was born and raised back home (Cabo Verde), I took that wonderful experience for granted; many of us don't get the same opportunities, a large number of Cape Verdean live a busy life which does not allow them to take a month or two to visit our beautiful islands. The web page is the ONLY contact some folks have with our culture, which is something I need to respect and understand. For all those who I offended in the past, I send my apologies.
Our country needs people who are going to help at all level. Mr. Leary is responsible for this page which links so many of us to one another, we also need lawyers, doctors, professors, farmers, mechanics, etc. As a whole, we make up what we call a "Nation" at home (Cabo Verde) as well as abroad. We are all sons and daughers of the islands.
Thank you Mr. Leary for doing the things you do so well, and keep up the good work. With your actions I was able to understand the complexity of the work ahead of us. If I am going to become a hero, I need to learn to lead by example, not through rough language targeted at my brothers and sisters.
With love, your African-Caboverdiano brother (irmon)
Raheim

Mad love goes out to the individual who came up with the phat concept
of the wonderful artwork. Great way of showing our love the the
freedom fighters of the past. As Dr. Cornell West say, freedom fighters
only come once in many generations. One has to seize the moment of
strugle, make sacrifices, and plan for total victory in order to be
glorified as an ultimate and true warrior. I love the picture.

What a great parade the Verdean Vets put on this year as always, but this years it was tops. I am sure it was the same in all the Caboverdean community. Some celebration. In Rhode Island at Fox Point about 8ooo people showed up for a wonderful time. The weather was great big beautiful clouds a wonderful day.
In New Bedford they named a street after one of our local heros; Manuel E Costa Sr.You all remember Manny the great community activist with all of his different hats and his walking cane. Manny graduated from Linclon U. from Oxford Pa.Manny was always in the thick of our revolution. He could be seen a lot standing on Union St and sixth St. holding up a sign boycotting one thing or another. He also was very active supporter of PAIGC for the freedom of Guinea Bissau and Cabo Verde.
T-shirts of Cabral and many other items, and food ;manchupa, jag and so on. Cabo Verdean music in the air. I mean Cvs and their friends was out there in the biggest party ever from New bedford to Providence to Waterbury Conn. to New York to atlanta Ga. to california good every one the theme was the same Unity work and progress. A little some thing extra two weeks ago at the new 1.8 million dollar United House Of Prayer For All People that was built by the Great Sweet daddy Bishop Grace which has now a new Leader
Bishop S.C.Madison The new Sweet daddy which is the stewart of this great empire of the House of Prayer. They had a band called the mighty McCoulough Sons of Thunder all brass band that rocked a full house with their rendition of Remember Me.
Later you all.

Greetings to all. I am full of joy and know that we are blessed to see a Cape Verdian home page. I also feel blessed to know where I was born (Cape Verde Islands- Fogo) I feel most of the People who come from or have relatives from CABO VERDE are blesssed because we know our History. The African Americans in this country who's ancestors came here chained and against their will have no idea what villiage or town their people walked on. Cape Verdian have different tribes, Fogo, Brava,San vincente, Praia, San Nicaulo, and so on. My Gandfather came here in the 1900's to join the service and in the same token his family (wife, children, grandchildren) were granted the opportunity to come to the USA. I am sure many of us have this same story. We are fortunate to have freedom and opportunity that others have had to die and struggle for. Yes God is good. May we stand together in unity and in faith.

Yo! what up Erik, I lost your e-mail address, so here is the
stuff you need for background color, go to your page editor or
netscape composer and for the body of the page just type:
body background color="put color or code of color you want.gif"
This may also be done this way: body bgcolor="color.gif"
For horizontal Rules just type HR For example:
hr size=## width=##%
Note: the percent and size can be either interger or real
Also you see how I closed the tags with , you must open them with

I cannot do it here otherwise you won't see them.
i.e. in body do this < first... so it will look like this
For additional information on this you may refer to other web pages.
The best way to learn this stuff is to go under view and then page
source. In here you can see how other web developers/masters
do theirs.

From the Book of NEHEMIAH Chp.8 verse 10.
"Go your way,eat the fat,and drink the sweet, and send portions unto
them for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is Holy unto our Lord:
neither be ye sorry;for the joy of the Lord is your strength".

For those who don't know about the archipelagoes the group of Islands in the Atlantic Ocean called Cabo Verde but by the ancient-
mariner's it was know as AZIJAH meaning The Power Of DEUS (GOD) It is told by the sages of Africa (Griots) that when Deus Allah Ali
Aziz The Grande Focus Vida de Universe Forca Superior Astral made the Planet Earth and all was finished; Deus said I want something very special. He The Almighty looked and said I have made all things; but I will bless this this planet with my Grace and He Deus
reached into The Atlantic Ocean deep with His Hands and when He pulled His mighty Hands up from the deep sea it was Azijah to become Cabo Verde with some small islets in its mist.
One of the Islands the smallest was called DjahBrava the island of
the love of Deus (god) . And from that Island came man of God Called Grace and His name is writen in the Books of God.
Today it is called Brava'but next to eat God said I will give them Djha Fogo The Island of The Fire of Deus ( God ).
The Islands was sprinkeld with salt and pepper and some sugar and coffee. It was inhabited by the very best in the world and also by the very worst and today all of Africa,,Asia, Europe, and what is called
South America ( Brasil) it is the FU-NANA The BATUKA The MORABEZA . It is fire and love,it is God and the devil dancing in the Dark and only when the GRACE is returned will the world know peace. It is a barren land and when we the people make it the flower
that is to say RAMU de Moundo The locust flower of Buddah and the Love of Christ and the Malik Ahmad meaning the King which is most worthy.
This is the hour to bring together the harvest of all Gods people.

I'm collecting information for a new edition of the yachtsman's guide THE ATLANTIC ISLANDS, which covers the Cape Verdes. Any information regarding recent changes to harbours or anchorages would be very useful, as well as info on the facilities available (particularly boatyards etc).
I also need to update the General Introduction regarding political changes since 1993, population statistics etc. All help gratefully received!
