Chapter Seven: Reaching Out

In the past decade the university has built on its mission to serve the region. Its presence in the life of the region is more visible with important off-campus sites in New Bedford, Fall River, and Fairhaven, as well as cooperative arrangements with other regional colleges, area school systems, economic development agencies and businesses, and cultural outreach. This more active presence in the region has re-shaped the university and made it even more central to the economic, cultural, and educational renaissance of the South Coast.
